Ghent's Bike Rental and Repair Hub for Sustainable Urban Mobility

Many cities seek to reduce car dependency by improving connections between cycling and public transport. A bike service hub at railway stations can facilitate this transition. The repair centre can help a lot for some unexpected situations and with the rental opportunity it makes easier the multimodal transportation. The concept does not require major infrastructure investments and can be adapted to different station sizes and local needs.

Bike Point Gent-Sint-Pieters was introduced to promote sustainable mobility and support the growing number of cyclists in the city. With increasing bicycle use, there was a need for accessible repair services, a wild range of rental options for commuters and visitors, and free tire inflation to ensure safe and efficient cycling.

Available services

At the bike point you are able to rent various type of e-, cargo and regular bike. At the bike point there is a bicycle repair center where every problem regarding the rented or self-owned bike can be fixable. The initiative aligns with Ghent’s broader strategy to encourage cycling as a primary mode of transport, reduce car dependency, and enhance the accessibility of railway stations.
